CAMIE Industrial Symposium brings research and industry together
The CAMIE Industrial Symposium recently took place at Imperial College London on 21 May, bringing together early‑career researchers and professionals from academia, industry, and entrepreneurship for a one‑day event focussed on collaboration, innovation, and career development beyond academia.
The symposium provided a valuable platform for exploring how research can translate into real‑world impact, with a strong emphasis on strengthening connections between academic research and industrial application. Attendees benefited from a series of insightful talks and discussions highlighting diverse career pathways and opportunities for collaboration.
The programme featured invited contributions from Andrew Bell (University of Leeds), John Naylor (Kurt J. Lesker Company), Jan Neuman (NenoVision), Spiros Kournopoulos (MatNex), and Tuğçe Ayvalı (Global Impact Ventures). Speakers shared perspectives spanning academia, industry, and start‑ups, offering practical insight into how research expertise can be applied across sectors.
The day fostered open discussion, active engagement, and valuable networking opportunities, providing inspiration and guidance to those considering their next career steps while reinforcing links between academia and industry.
